Radio City Christmas Spectacular: The Rockettes Christmas Show
Get rockin’ around the Christmas tree with The Radio City Rockettes’ Christmas Show. For more than 75 years, the Rockettes have been bringing the Christmas spirit to New York with high kicks and toe taps to holiday tunes. The show brings the Nativity scene to life with live sheep and camels, and features classic Christmas song performances such as The Twelve Days of Christmas. Of course, the highlight is the Rockettes festive performance, which features three-foot-tall hats, glittering outfits, giant props and amazing choreography to make it one of the best Christmas shows in New York.
Looking for a gift that says “pizzazz!” rather than just “present”? The Radio City Christmas Spectacular offers several packages if you’re stuck for presents and running out of time. Those in the know buy their loved ones the Rockettes 101 dance class - a three-hour dance session with the professionals which includes a mock audition, a photo op and real choreography from the show. If that does not satisfy the hunger for fame, the Sounds of Christmas Experience allows that special someone to be a part of the opening act for the Rockettes by performing a five-minute Christmas-themed a capella performance before the big show starts… but you must book soon to avoid disappointment!
Of course, if you’re not looking to dazzle thousands this Christmas (and no one would blame you if you’re not!), you can always just treat yourself with a VIP reception experience with drinks in the historic Roxy suite before the show.

NYC Ballet Nutcracker
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without the NYC Ballet Nutcracker. The famous (and arguably the best) ballet show is brought to life by director George Balanchine with the help of all 90 dancers and 62 musicians of the New York City Ballet company. The music of Tchaikovsky perfectly suits the elaborate costumes from Karinska and the extravagant sets of Rouben Ter-Arutunian, and sets the scene for Christmas, the most magical time of the year. There’s nothing more festive than a one-tonne Christmas tree that grows from 12 feet to an impressive 40 feet, or the sparkling, snowflake-laden dance of the SugarPlum Fairy.
To sweeten the Christmas deal, the VIP “Sweet Seats” offer a premium spot, souvenir book, keepsake photo and 15% discount at the gift shop (be warned, this may give you cavities)! It’s a perfect to gift to the ballet-mad in your life, or just to kick start the Christmas Show season in New York City. One of the best New York Christmas shows around, it’s unmissable!

Other Christmas Shows in NYC: Musicals and Operas
If the Ballet or the Rockettes have been ticked off the bucket list, there are still a range of performances to make you say, it’s the best New York Christmas show you have seen yet.
For little (or big) kids, Elf the Musical in the Madison Square Garden Theatre lets you follow Buddy on his journey to find his real family… even the most heartless Grinch will enjoy this fun family event.
Music lovers will enjoy the Metropolitan Opera’s rendition of The Magic Flute. The Oscar-nominated and Tony Award winner Julie Taymor has created a beautiful version of the classic Mozart production, featuring huge flamingos and dancing bears. The show is sung in English and is a shorter 100-minute show to make it particularly kid-friendly.
For something a little different, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s The Ghosts of Christmas Eve performance is sure to banish the holiday blues. Pyrotechnics, lasers, guitar solos and more make this Christmas show really rocking! This rock opera will definitely blow away the winter blues and get your holiday started with a bang.
