By air

To get to the centre of Edinburgh from the airport it’s a 30-minute drive using the Airlink 100 bus which runs 24hrs a day, every 10 minutes and costs £4.50 single or £7.50 return. The bus stop is located outside the airport where you can pay by cash or card. Your journey will terminate on Waverley bridge, only a 15-minute walk to YOTEL.

If you would prefer to take a taxi, the taxi rank is located around the corner of Waverley Bridge on Market Street. Please be aware, black cabs will only take cash.

By tram

Tram fares between the Airport and City centre are:

Adult single £6.00 / Child single £3.00 / Adult return £8.50 / Child return £4.50

Tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines at the airport tram station. Most debit and credit cards are accepted (£3 minimum spend) and be aware when you use cash that no change is given. 

The tram runs from 06:18 from the airport. Before 07:00 trams run every 10 mins. 07:00 to 19:00 trams run every 7 mins. After 19:00 trams run every 10 mins. The last tram from the airport to the city centre leaves at 22:48 and from the city centre to the airport at 23:30.

By train

Waverley Station, the only station in the world named after a novel by renowned Scottish author, Sir Walter Scott, is located slap bang in the centre of Edinburgh. It has links all over Scotland as well as the rest of the UK, including a direct link from Edinburgh to London taking just over four hours, and you can even travel to Glasgow in under 45 minutes. 

By bus

There are many bus services in Edinburgh. All Lothian buses cost £1.70 or £4.00 for a day ticket which can be used as many times as you like. Be aware that buses take exact fares in cash only and no change is given.

By car

Edinburgh is a small city and is notorious for limited (if any) street parking. However, there are two main car parks in the city centre, NCP Castle Terrace and Edinburgh Waverley station. YOTEL guests get a special discount at the Castle Terrace car park located at Castle Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2EW, a 3-minute drive from the hotel, offering £12 for 24hrs instead of £30. For more information please click here 

There are a limited number of on-street parking bays nearby that charge £ 3.00 per hour: Monday – Saturday, 8.30am – 6.30pm. Parking is free of charge outside of these hours. Prices and other contact details can be found on the Edinburgh's City Council's website

Getting around

Edinburgh is such a compact city that the best way to get around is to walk. You can get from one end of the city to the other in less than 30 minutes, perfect for exploring all the stunning buildings and architecture.
