    St Paul's Cathedral and the Barbican are both within walking distance, alongside the Victorian halls of Smithfield Market, whose General Market building has been restored as the new home of the London Museum. Opening 28 November 2026 with free permanent galleries, the museum brings thousands of years of London's history into one of the oldest corners of the City. 

    Old Street's tech cluster sits a short ride north, while the Bank of England Museum offers a quieter, more specific kind of City sightseeing. This is a part of London built on routine and trade rather than tourist crowds, suiting a Square Mile weekend or a City stopover equally well.
