HOW TO SPEND 48 HOURS IN PORTO

Zenith brunch and cocktails - Porto, Portugal

Porto is one of the coolest European cities out there, bursting with cultural, gastronomical and fashionable happenings worth adding to your to-do list. Aside from the iconic historical monuments, Porto also offers its visitors traditional experiences not to be missed, such as tasting the city’s famous Port Wine or tasting the local delicacy, Francesinha.

YOTEL Porto is soon to open in one of the trendiest spots in the city; we’ve prepared the perfect 48-hour agenda so you can make the most of what this epic city has to offer when you stay with us at YOTEL Porto.

DAY ONE

Start the day by walking down Avenida dos Aliados and have a coffee at Vogue Café Porto. Afterwards, you may want to try the crunchy and creamy ‘Pavlovas’ at Miss Pavlova.

After your morning energy boost, we suggest you walk through Galerias de Paris and visit the century-old Livraria Lello, a beautiful 1906 building and one of the most iconic bookshops in the world. If you buy a book (or not), enjoy some peace and quiet reading outside at BASE Porto, a cultural space equipped with a bar, located in a beautiful garden next to Torre dos Clérigos.

Zenith Brunch & Cocktails is a great choice for brunch, where you can find light, healthy and delicious meals in an 'industrial chic' environment. In the afternoon, you can relax and have a drink on Rota do Chá, visit the incredible Jardins do Palácio de Cristal and enjoy the perfect sunset at Jardim das Virtudes.

For dinner, there are countless options! You can try either Dan’s Finger Food and Drinks for a picanha or aged meat hamburgers, or BOA-BAO if you prefer Asian flavours from Thailand, Vietnam or Laos. For a more contemporary experience, Nogueira’s Porto is a favourite among the locals.

If you’re a lover of a good night out, you can’t miss an experience in Oporto! We suggest that you return to Galerias de Paris and discover a variety of bars, from Vermuteria da BaixaThe Gin House and Casa do Livro to  Maus Hábitos and end your night at Plano B, a popular nightclub in the city.

DAY TWO

There’s nothing better than strolling around one of Porto’s best shopping streets, Rua de Santa Catarina. Along the way, stop for some local coffee at Majestic Café, one of the oldest cafes in the city, before taking a wander around the Mercado do Bolhão, a traditional Portuguese market.

One of the main historical monuments of Porto is Estação de São Bento, known for its beautiful tile panels – a must see if you’re in the city. Walk down Rua das Flores, where you’ll find classic buildings but also several pastry stores, such as Nut',PORTO to taste delicious Nutella snacks, NATA Lisboa to taste a true Pastel de Nata or Chocolataria Equador where you will get lost in the variety of delicious chocolate.

Continue your journey and check out the Palácio da Bolsa (Palácio da Associação Comercial do Porto), a neoclassical style building built in 1842. Go to Ribeira and enjoy a walk along the Douro River, a unique view in one of the most typical neighborhoods in the city. Here you will find the Wine Quay Bar, a great place to taste Portuguese snacks with a glass of wine with the Douro as a backdrop. Later, cross Ponte D. Luís to enjoy the sea views and spend the afternoon at the Caves do Vinho do Porto in Vila Nova de Gaia. Watch the sunset at Jardim do Morro and return to Avenida dos Aliados to eat a ‘Francesinha’ at Cervejaria Brasão. If you prefer a lighter meal, you must eat at Komyuniti, the restaurant at YOTEL Porto.

To enjoy an after dinner drink, visit Capela Incomum or CLUBE Porto Rugby.

Enjoy Porto and remember to tag @Yotel in your holiday snaps.
