DAY TWO
There’s nothing better than strolling around one of Porto’s best shopping streets, Rua de Santa Catarina. Along the way, stop for some local coffee at Majestic Café, one of the oldest cafes in the city, before taking a wander around the Mercado do Bolhão, a traditional Portuguese market.
One of the main historical monuments of Porto is Estação de São Bento, known for its beautiful tile panels – a must see if you’re in the city. Walk down Rua das Flores, where you’ll find classic buildings but also several pastry stores, such as Nut',PORTO to taste delicious Nutella snacks, NATA Lisboa to taste a true Pastel de Nata or Chocolataria Equador where you will get lost in the variety of delicious chocolate.
Continue your journey and check out the Palácio da Bolsa (Palácio da Associação Comercial do Porto), a neoclassical style building built in 1842. Go to Ribeira and enjoy a walk along the Douro River, a unique view in one of the most typical neighborhoods in the city. Here you will find the Wine Quay Bar, a great place to taste Portuguese snacks with a glass of wine with the Douro as a backdrop. Later, cross Ponte D. Luís to enjoy the sea views and spend the afternoon at the Caves do Vinho do Porto in Vila Nova de Gaia. Watch the sunset at Jardim do Morro and return to Avenida dos Aliados to eat a ‘Francesinha’ at Cervejaria Brasão. If you prefer a lighter meal, you must eat at Komyuniti, the restaurant at YOTEL Porto.
